At OilTechConnect we love automation technology. It’s great to see Equinor and Transocean embracing the latest innovations.

MHWirth has been awarded the contract for the delivery of its automatic drilling control system, DEAL™, on all Transocean floaters currently in operation on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for Equinor, a total of five floating drilling units.

The Transocean Enabler hosted a successful pilot of the DEAL™ drilling automation system. In addition to this rig, the contract covers the remaining four floaters in the Transocean fleet: Transocean Spitsbergen, Transocean Encourage, Transocean Equinox and Transocean Endurance.  All units are fully equipped with the MHWirth complete drilling equipment package.

“The contract confirms MHWirth’s position as a leading supplier of automatic drilling control systems.  MHWirth is proud to be acknowledged by Transocean, a world leading drilling contractor and an important implementor of cutting-edge technology”, says Eirik Bergsvik, CEO of MHWirth.

What makes DEAL™ the market leading drilling automation technology system?

The system fulfils the requirements and expectations regarding increased operational performance, cost efficiency and HSSE. Drilling operations can now be run with less human interference, which increases stability and removes risk. DEAL™ has an open interface, which enables the implementation of different smart modules (efficiency and automation enhancing functionalities) including 3rd party vendors. The deployment also recognizes the acceptance and appreciation of the MHWirth open interface which facilitates system setup as per user preferences.

The MHWirth DEAL™ system is gaining substantial recognition in the offshore market and is currently being installed on several other drilling units globally.
